Heya, for my A2 Media Studies exam (within critical research), i am doing about women and film. Within this, i am comparing female directors to males ones and how they portray the leading female protagonist in their films. I am doing 'Lost in Translation' and 'Legally Blonde'. Much would be appreciated if you could answer these questions...

* By just watching the films, without any prior knowledge, which gender do you think directed each film?

*How do you think they portray the leading actress in each film? (Charlotte in Lost in Translation and Elle in Legally Blonde)

* Why are there so few female directors in Hollywood? Why do they get paid considerably less?

*Why is Hollywood so male dominated?

* Can you name as many female diectors off the top of your head as possible? What films did they direct?
