gianderosa1990 is on a distinguished road
Default Hi my name is Gian, I need your help:)

Hi, been researching Hollywood, European + Asian film industrys. Looks like its a bit one sided in the favour of Hollywood in success rates.

I had a look at, run lola run, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Spider Man 3 (amazing films btw, run lola run was AMAZING!) and theorised that the Asian market will eventually catch up to Hollywood, looking at statistics and stuff.

2 questions:
1)Do you think Hollywood is dominating the industry or even monopolising the market?
2)Do you think the chinese culture is presented justly in chinese films?

This is for a project btw, any comments welcome, thanks guys!

Nope don't agree with any of it, if somebody wants to make a successful movie, nobody is stopping them. I mean everybody claims that nobody can understand the Scottish accent which i have but that doesn't stop some Scottish movies by being some of the most successful movies of the year. They say you need loads of funding to create a movie which is false also proved by the Blair witch project and Reservoir dogs. And the chinese culture of movies have there own cult which me myself and westerners are amazed with, very low budget half of the time but amazing ground breaking material in alot of there movies. Hollywood isn't new anyway and the damage they have or might have done has been done which i can see no effects of.

To summarise

Movies are becoming more and more cheap and affordable anybody can be a special effects artists from there bedroom and anybody can afford high tech equipment now because the hardware market is so vast and choice is great, so if they wanted to monopolise the market it would be an impossible task.
