if you could just remember a scene of violence like the one in Reservoir Dogs, or Pulp Fiction etc and also Death Proof would be handy and just tell me what effect the violence had on you? were you shocked? or did you find it comical? etc

I found Reservoir Dogs pointless. Violence for shock value alone doesn't work for me, the story was weak and flawed and I nearly didn't get to the end, the film was trying to stand up on violence alone. I think violence has a place in films if it's required to get a point across and if the script supports it and vice versa. Pulp Fiction is better because the script it stronger and the violence is proportional. Death Proof is just silly entertainment, it was too stupid to be shocking. I think it's difficult to be shocked by violence in any film these days - we're all too desensitized to it - I don't know whether that answers your question. Dusk til Dawn is another Tarantino classic!

I think violence for violence sake is pointless like in reservoir dogs, actually that whole movie was a good waste of time. Many times violence is used for some sort of shock value and in most cases it is used to simply get ratings. I will say there are however, some movies out there that the violence is necessary to get a true vision of an event. For example in the movie the passion. The sceens of wiping and the crufixicion were mind numbing to watch, but what I feel, a true vision of the actual event. This is also true in some war movies ect.. but it seems many times there is a gross sceen of blood and gutts that does not improve the quality of a film in fact it many actually make it worse. The same is true with language, I have watched several movies where the actors are f*** bombing left and gight for no other reason than they can. All this does is make a good movie rated for older people and it keeps many kids from watching what otherwise, is an excellent movie. We have a guard dog on out kids tv so we can make certian language bleep as well violence and nudity. I hope my option helps in your research. Good luck with your paper.

Handy tip for ya (maybe to late for the essay) but in the movie Death Proof Kurt Russel was playing the part as Snake Plisken from the movie Escape From New York, And to the Tarantino haters above my post it's not about how violent his movies are it's about how cheap budget some of em are 50 grand for a movie (reservoir dogs) isn't anything compared to some low budget movies most low budget movies are like 200 grand half a million dollars (well the good ones anyway) and please don't start with that fucking Blair Witch project again everytime i start this argument that bloody movie pops up. The difference between Blair witch and Reservoir dogs is that reservoir dogs treats you like an adult not a child chasing some god damn ghost like you're 4 years old. Quentin sold his script of True Romance for 50 grand and made reservoir dogs with the money and i don't know anybody who did as much for a single cast of actors in 1 movie like Quentin did cause remember all those actors in that movie at the time were nobodys and there fucking huge now.
