I have just returned from seeing the premier of Speed Racer, to bad I wasn't on Acid, Magic Mushrooms, or LSD because that would have been the only way this movie would have been any good. The Wachovski Brothers should have stuck to making The Matrix movies not rip apart one of the most popular pop cultural cartoons of our time, talk about a great big disappointment from start to finish. First of all where and what episode did they see a MACH 6 with a Batmobile Turbine Engine? The last race was great I thought Speed Racer was going to pull a Back to the Future when he was leaving a trail behind him.
Here's one of the biggest foul ups they made and anyone who grew up on Speed Racer will tell you, Pops Racer is the one who invented the Mach 5 with all the modifications not the Japanese or the Chinese.That was one of the most important things that should have been in the movie along with the engine blueprints on the windshield. Please don't waste your time and money on this abortion.
Finally the top number one screw up, since the brothers had the orientals design the modifications on the Mach 5, they got the majority of the buttons and functions on the steering wheel all mixed up and some missing. Yo Brothers! If it isn't broke don't fix it. I would've had the makers of the Transformers Movie do this film, maybe they would have kept everything right.
Just for examples, anyone who knows the Mach 5 knows what the buttons do.
A- AutoJacks
B- Grip Tires
C- Cutting Blades
D- Deflector Shield
E- Special Headlights
F- Underwater Oxygen and Periscope
G- Homing Robot Bird

Now here is the movie version of the screwed up buttons on the steering wheel.
A- They got that one right
B-(WRONG) After a blow out another tire wraps around the wheel
C-(WRONG)Manual Wheel shields to protect it from other drivers with cutters on their wheels.
D- They got another one right
E-(WRONG) No Grip Tires just Tires with Spikes that make the Mach 5 climb a mountain at a 90 degree incline. Hmm, I never seen that done.
F-(WRONG)Cutting Blades, wrong button and the blades turn vertically to cut up and down instead of right to left.
G-Yeah they got that right but Speed Racer never lets it fly in the movie.

Well there you have it, they got 3 out of the seven buttons right. If your planning to see the Mach 5 drive underwater or shoot the Homing Robot forget it, the only place your going to see that is in the cartoons and the only time in the movie that the Deflector Shield gets turned on is when Speed and Trixie are talking in the Mach 5 when it's raining and when someone is shooting at him.
Sorry Speed Racer Fans this is one movie you will be really disappointed when you see it, actually within the fist half hour of the movie you are going to either walk out or take a nap until the action starts rolling towards the end.
